BERKELEY -- One person is dead tonight following a shooting that occurred on San Pablo Avenue and Delaware Street late Thursday, a police spokeswoman said.

A man was shot and fatally wounded in the incident that happened shortly before 10 p.m., Berkeley police spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Coats said. She said the victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Coats had no information on possible suspects.

The shooting occurred just feet from the Bing's Liquor and was up the road from the Albatross Pub, a local hangout and one of the city's oldest bars.

This marks the second shooting in two weeks for the city, and the second time in the past six months a shooting has occurred at that same location.

On July 17, Berkeley resident Jermaine Davis was found shot in the 1800 block of Derby Street. On Feb. 4, Zontee Jones was shot and killed near the Delaware Street and San Pablo Avenue intersection.
