KENSINGTON -- An 8-year-old Kensington girl injured when she tumbled off a tree swing and was hit by a falling branch is expected to be released from Children's Hospital Oakland later Friday, police said.
The girl suffered no major injuries and was kept overnight to be evaluated, police said. She suffered bruises and cuts on her chest, neck and face, police said.
The girl was at a friend's house in the 100 block of Ardmore Road around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday when the incident happened, police said. She was using a tree-branch swing when the thick, decaying branch snapped and sent the swing falling, police said.
After the girl hit the lawn below, the branch landed on top of her, police said. She was alert when emergency workers treated her at the home before taking her to Children's Hospital, police said.
