OAKLAND -- A motorcyclist was seriously injured and the morning commute was snarled Friday in a five-car wreck on Interstate 580 near the Interstate 980 junction, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The crash occurred in the westbound direction of I-580 around 5:25 a.m., CHP Officer James Evans said, when the motorcycle collided with another vehicle, possible a pickup truck.
The motorcycle driver was taken to a hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening, Evans said. The driver may have suffered a broken leg, Evans said.
The far right lane was blocked, because of the wreck, but tow trucks were there to clear the vehicles, and the freeway was cleared by 7:30 a.m.
No other injures were reported, Evans said.
