SAN JOSE -- A standoff between a man threatening to hurt himself with a knife and police ended early this morning when officers took the man into custody, according to Sgt. Heather Randol.

San Jose police received a call at 12:15 a.m. that a man was threatening to harm himself with a knife.

Officers located the man inside his vehicle in the area of 12th and Santa Clara streets, Randol said.

Officers began talking to the man in attempt to get himself to surrender.

About four hours later, the man surrendered and police took him into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported.
