OAKLAND -- A masked gunman robbed a Bank of the West branch in Montclair on Monday morning, the third time the bank has been robbed in a month, police said.
Monday's robbery happened about 11:35 a.m. at the bank at 2023 Mountain Blvd., in the heart of the busy commercial district. The suspect jumped over the counter and robbed two tellers, according to police. The amount of money taken was not disclosed.
More than a half-dozen employes and customers were inside the bank when the robbery happened but no one was hurt.
After the robbery, the suspect ran up Medau Place to a trail that connects Montclair to Shepherd Canyon Road and fled. He is being sought.
The bank was also robbed on Aug. 1 and July 26. Police are trying to determine if the same suspect was involved.
