MARIN COUNTY -- A crab fisherman who died off Dillon Beach was identified as a 40-year-old San Jose man, the coroner's office said Monday.
Thong Hoang Nguyen died Sunday morning after he apparently got pulled off a small boat while dropping a crab pot, the Marin County Fire Department said. The boat operator said Nguyen's leg got tangled in the rope, dragging him under water as the crab pot sank.
Nguyen was not wearing a life jacket.
The cause and circumstances of his death remain under investigation, said sheriff's Lt. Keith Boyd, assistant county coroner.
