Antioch Concert and candlelighting: 5 p.m. East County Veterans Resource Center, 1023 W. Second St. Light food followed by concert at 6:30 p.m. featuring Antioch's Jessica Caylyn and candlelight memorial service at 8 p.m. 925-206-4113.
Danville Exchange Club of the San Ramon Valley: 5:50-6:40 p.m¿. All Wars memorial, Oak Hill Park, 3005 Stone Valley Road. The Exchange Club and veterans organizations host the annual public remembrance ceremony; Larry W. Seaton, Honor Guard Badge 106, will speak on "Honor Guard -- Tomb of the Unknown Soldier." There will be color guards, hundreds of Scouts with American flags, a flight of doves, music and more. There will be free ice cream for children after the ceremony.
Lafayette/Walnut Creek Lafayette Flag Brigade's 12th annual 9/11 Remembrance and Candlelight Vigil: 4-8 p.m., El Curtola Boulevard overcrossing of Highway 24, on the Lafayette-Walnut Creek border. Billed as the largest overpass flag display in the state, the observance will also include a flag-folding ceremony, the local Blue Star Moms, the Lafayette Boy Scouts Color Guard, a special 12th anniversary music program, VIP speakers, local singers and the 9/11 Memorial Theatre, as well as the candlelight vigil at dusk. Pleasanton Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department: 9:45 a.m. Ceremony at the flagpole of Fire Station Number One, 3560 Nevada St. Public invited. Members of the Livermore and Pleasanton police and fire departments will attend. Brief comments will be made by the fire chief. Union City Flight 93 Memorial: 10 a.m. Ceremony at Sugar Mill Landing Park, Dyer and Alvarado-Niles streets, to honor all the heroes of 9/11, including those on United Airlines Flight 93, a flight from Newark, N.J., to San Francisco that was hijacked as part of the Sept. 11 attacks.
