SAN JOSE --Police on Friday night were investigating the shooting death of a man found dead after a 911 call about 9:39 p.m.
A police spokeswoman released a news release late Friday saying police responding to the emergency call about a shooting in the 900 block of Gilchrist Drive found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene about 9:43 p.m., according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Heather Randol.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the homicide, the city's 35th this year, and homicide investigators were on the scene late Friday, she said.
No suspects had been identified as of Friday night, and it was not known if the shooting was gang-related, she said.
Gilchrist Drive is in a neighborhood north of Mabury Road between Capitol Avenue and Interstate 680.
The victim's identity was being withheld until his relatives could be notified.
