A man in his 30s died in a fall at Candlestick Park before the start of the San Francisco 49ers game, according to San Francisco police.

Just before 1:30 p.m., the man, who was walking with his brother on the Jamestown pedestrian walkway, fell and suffered serious injuries, said Officer Gordon Shyy, a spokesman with the police department.

Witnesses said he appeared to have been intoxicated, according to police.

"Alcohol may have been a factor, but the toxicology report would tell for sure," said Shyy.

The man died of his injuries. His identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, he said.
