The "Breaking Bad" spinoff is a go.
AMC and Sony Pictures Television confirmed today that they have reached a licensing agreement for a drama pegged to Saul Goodman, the shady lawyer played by Bob Odenkirk.
Titled "Better Call Saul," the one-hour drama will feature Odenkirk as Goodman in a prequel to "Breaking Bad." It will focus on Goodman before he became the lawyer for chemistry-teacher-turned-drug lord Walter White.
The news doesn't come as a major surprise. During the TV critics summer press tour, "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan spoke of his desire to spin off a show around the humorous Saul Goodman character.
"Breaking Bad" airs its series finale on AMC Sept. 29.
