OAKLAND -- A 35-year-old San Lorenzo man was killed in an early-morning multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 880 in Oakland early Sunday morning.

The driver, identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as 35-year-old Jose Curiel, was headed southbound near 98th Avenue when he crashed at about 1:35 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Interstate 880 was closed for about two hours as officers investigated and cleared the crash.

Drivers were rerouted to 98th Avenue and along city streets before re-entering the freeway at Davis Street in San Leandro to get around the crash scene.
