OAKLAND -- A shooting Thursday afternoon in the Lower Bottoms area of West Oakland left a 32-year-old man wounded and two cars hit by gunfire.
The victim, whose name was not released, was hit in the buttocks and was expected to recover, police said.
The shooting happened about 12:40 p.m. at the intersection of Eighth and Chester streets. Police said at least one gunman approached the man and began firing.
The victim was able to run a few hundred feet before collapsing in the front yard of a house in the 1500 block of Eighth Street. No arrests have been made and police don't yet have a motive for the shooting.
Eighth Street between Chester and Henry street was closed to traffic while police investigated.
Two parked vehicles, an SUV and an Acura were hit, but no one was inside the cars.
