SAN JOSE -- Two San Jose boys ages 15 and 11 have been implicated in a series of BB gun shootings that shattered the windows of at least a dozen passing cars on Highway 101 earlier this week, the California Highway Patrol announced.
A 15 year-old boy walked into the San Jose Police Department on Friday morning to confess his involvement in the shootings, according to the CHP, which is investigating the case because it occurred on a freeway.
The shootings were reported between 5:45 and 6:45 p.m. Wednesday on southbound Highway 101 north of McKee Road. CHP officials said as of Friday, they have confirmed the windows of 12 vehicles were broken or shattered.
During questioning, the teen told investigators that an 11-year-old boy also participated in the act, which is being treated as a case of felony vandalism, the CHP said.
Both boys were interviewed with their parents present and were released to their custody.
The case remains under investigation.
