PLEASANT HILL -- A woman who was loading her car in the parking lot of a Verizon Wireless store Tuesday was dragged a short distance after she tried to recover her purse that had just been nabbed by three men in a car, police said.

The woman, whose name and age were not released, sustained a minor injury to her leg and was treated and released at the scene. police said.

About 12:50 p.m. three men in a tan or brown 1990 Ford Taurus with yellow Pena Motors paper dealership plates drove up behind the woman in the store's parking lot at 20 Crescent Drive, police said.

The woman's purse was resting on her trunk beside her. One man grabbed it and got back in the car, which began to speed away.

The victim tried unsuccessfully to grab her purse, but instead grabbed the car's passenger door and was dragged for a short distance, police said. The men got away in the car and were last seen entering the southbound Highway 680 on-ramp near Boyd Road, police said.

The man who grabbed the purse is described as African American, about 205 pounds and tall with a medium build and cornrow braided dark hair. A full description of other two suspects was not available. Anyone with information is asked to call the Pleasant Hill police investigations bureau at 925-288-4630.
