Emirates Team New Zealand, left, and Oracle Team USA line up in the starting box for the 17th race of the America's Cup sailing event against Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, in San Francisco. Oracle Team USA won races 17 and 18 to pull even with Emirates Team New Zealand.

Mr. Nuts, the prognosticating Fremont cat, is now six for six, successfully predicting that New Zealand would lose the America's Cup to come-from-behind Team Oracle USA.

Mr. Nuts, who has accurately predicted everything from a presidential election to a Super Bowl, had projected Team New Zealand would fall in the race being held on the San Francisco Bay.

Mr. Nuts predictions involve picking losers by choosing between two litter boxes. Owner Michael Ostrofsky labels two identical litter trays with the competitors, provides Mr. Nuts with a gourmet dinner -- this time, fresh crab meat -- and then waits to see what box Mr. Nuts picks. The winner is the one whose box Mr. Nuts doesn't use.

Mr. Nuts' previous accurate predictions have included picking three Super Bowl losers (including the 49ers, which made Mr. Nuts a bit unpopular in some circles); Mitt Romney losing the presidential election; and the gender of the Duke and Duchess' baby.

Mr. Nuts was so certain of his selection this time, Ostrofsky says, that he slept through the entire race.
