FREMONT -- Police have released a sketch of a kidnapping suspect they say robbed a woman at gunpoint earlier this month in the Warm Springs area of the city.

The armed robbery took place about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 near the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Mohave Drive, said police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

The victim told police she arrived home at her South Fremont condominium complex and had left her car when the suspect approached her with a handgun. As the suspect pointed the gun at her, he told her to get back into her vehicle, then got in with her, Bosques said.

The suspect made the victim drive a short distance and stop, and then he took money from her, got out and ran off, Bosques said. During the robbery, the suspect told the victim he had a friend who had just been shot and people were looking for him.

Calls were made to surrounding law enforcement agencies, but none reported a recent shooting incident, Bosques said. The victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as a man in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 8 inches, 130-140 pounds with a slender build. He also has shaggy, wavy or curly dark hair and dark brown eyes.

Anyone who has information about the case is asked to call police at 510-790-6912.
