PLEASANTON -- School officials are seeking volunteer reading tutors and language translators to assist the school district this year.
Tutors will be asked to help students in grades K-2 struggling to develop their literacy skills. Volunteers are needed at each of the district's nine elementary schools, officials said.
Tutors will receive training and all reading and writing materials will be provided. For more information, contact Heidi Burton at 925-271-0853 or at email@example.com.
Volunteers also are needed to help the school district communicate with students and families for whom English is their second language. District officials have identified 43 different languages spoken by students at Pleasanton schools.
Volunteer will be asked to translate documents, written correspondence, telephone conversations and face-to-face meetings at campuses.
