OAKLAND -- A FedEx cargo plane landed safely at Oakland International Airport early Wednesday morning after suffering mechanical issues in Texas, an airport official said.
Shortly after taking off from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport at 1 a.m. Pacific time, one of the two pilots aboard the plane reported some hydraulic issues, said Brian Kidd, an Oakland airport spokesman.
Hydraulics, he said, are used to power plane controls including the brakes, flaps and rudder.
"They knew they had a problem right after leaving and obviously felt OK about continuing the flight," Kidd said.
The plane landed without a problem at 4:30 a.m. and was towed to the FedEx ramp to be repaired.
At no point was an emergency declared, Kidd said.
