SAN FRANCISCO -- A defense attorney for a Berkeley man who was caught on video running naked throughout the 16th Street BART station has asked the man be released while he awaits trial.

Yeiner Alberto Perez Garizabalo, 24, was arrested after an incident on May 10 when he allegedly stripped naked, climbed atop turnstiles, performed acrobatic moves, grabbed passengers and kicked a BART employee, according to court documents.

Garizabalo has been charged with two felony counts of false imprisonment, four misdemeanor counts of battery on public transportation and one misdemeanor count of sexual battery. His defense attorney has filed a motion to release the defendant on his own recognizance, according to a news release from the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

Garizabalo is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Thursday in San Francisco.
