BERKELEY -- A man who threatened to harm himself and who police say crawled onto a set of BART tracks at the North Berkeley station delayed trains by about 25 minutes on Monday morning.

Officers were notified at 7:52 a.m. by a station agent who said that a man threatened to harm himself then got into the tracks in the path of a train, said Lt. Aaron Ledford.

Police stopped trains for 25 minutes and safely removed the man from the tracks, Ledford said.

The man was not injured but passengers were experiencing delays on the Richmond line in the directions of Fremont, Richmond and Millbrae, a BART spokesman said.
