SAN FRANCISCO -- Police have located a stolen car that had two children, ages 1 and 3, in the back seat, and the children are safe and unharmed, said a spokeswoman from the San Francisco Police Department.

Police located the dark blue 2007 Volkswagen 4-door in the 200 block of Sweeney Street at 6:35 p.m., police said.

The car was taken from the area of 22nd Street and Folsom Street in San Francisco's Mission district at 6:08 p.m.

No one has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

It was not immediately known who the car belongs to, or if the children are known to the person who took the car.
