The visiting Mustangs where able to corral the potent Emery offense and ran away with their second league victory of the season.

The Mustangs (4-2, 2-1 North Central II) relied heavily on senior running back Derek Murphy, who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns.

At halftime the Mustangs held a 14-0 lead with Murphy scoring both touchdowns. The Spartans (5-3, 2-2) looked to bounce back at the beginning of the third quarter with a 14-play, 61-yard drive that ended with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Nate Walker to Elijah Lucy. Emeree Robinson added a two-point conversion run.

Emery quarterback Nate Walker had 141 yards passing, but was limited to 21 yards on the ground.

"We had a disappointing last game (a 28-21 loss to California School for the Deaf). All week we worked on pursuit drills and taking care of the outside run" St. Vincent coach Gary Galloway said. In the fourth quarter, rushing touchdowns by Murphy and quarterback Jack Richardson sealed the win for the Mustangs.
