WATSONVILLE -- A 59-year-old Watsonville man was arrested after police say he held a man down and used an electric razor to shave part of his beard, Watsonville police said.
Police were called to an apartment complex at 30 W. Beach St. Tuesday after a 66-year-old man reported Keith Laurence Rasmussen, 59, had shaved him against his will, Watsonville Sgt. Eric Montalbo said.
Rasmussen, who is a neighbor of the victim, told officers he was upset with the victim because he believed the victim's friends entered his apartment and stole several items at an earlier date.
"We don't have any proof of that," Montalbo said.
About 9 p.m. Tuesday, the victim was sitting in his apartment when Rasmussen came in, pushed him down and tried to shave the victim's beard. During the brief struggle, Rasmussen shaved off part of the victim's beard and scraped part of his face. Police responded after the victim called police.
Rasmussen was arrested on suspicion of battery and taken to Santa Cruz County Jail. He was released on $1,000 bail.
