OAKLAND -- A bystander was wounded Friday morning during a drive-by shooting in East Oakland, police said.
An intended target may have been hit by gunfire, but police have not been able to locate the victim.
The shooting happened at 10:44 a.m. in the 3800 block Agua Vista Street.
Police said a group of people were standing on the sidewalk when a car drove by and someone inside started shooting at them. There were at least three people in the car, described as a 1990s gold Nissan Maxima.
The wounded man, believed to be in his 60s, was hit in the leg. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Police said some members of the group that were targeted fled before officers arrived. The ones who did stay told officers they did not know why anyone would want to shoot at them, police said.
