BERKELEY -- A man found floating in the water along the Berkeley shoreline Wednesday has been identified by police as Jerald Jacob, 69.

The Berkeley resident was found around 3:16 p.m. near the Berkeley Marina, according to Berkeley police Officer Jennifer Coats. Officers found Jacob near the shoreline along West Frontage Road south of University Avenue.

Jacob was reported missing to the Berkeley Police Department on Oct. 23. The manner and cause of Jacob's death are still under investigation.
