Alameda County is accepting nominations for the 21st annual Women's Hall of Fame.
The public can nominate outstanding women in 12 categories: business and professions; community service; culture and art; education; environment; health; justice; non-traditional careers; science, technology, engineering; sports and athletics; philanthropy and youth.
The deadline to submit nominations is Nov. 22. The inductees will be announced in January.
The annual luncheon and awards ceremony, hosted by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and the Alameda County Commission on the Status of Women, will be held Saturday, March 29 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4700 Lincoln Ave., in Oakland.
The program raises money for local charities addressing issues affecting women and children.
"The Women's Hall of Fame event has been growing steadily each year -- drawing more interest from the community and raising more contributions for some very important charity organizations benefiting women and families," said Susan S. Muranishi, Alameda County Administrator and Co-Chair of the Women's Hall of Fame.
