OAKLAND -- A San Leandro woman died and her two passengers were injured when she slammed her car into a tree Wednesday night on Interstate 580, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Myesha Holmes, 22, died of multiple blunt injuries, a spokeswoman from the Alameda County coroner's office said.

CHP Officer Daniel Hill said the woman crashed her Chevrolet Malibu into the tree on the right shoulder in the eastbound direction of I-580 at Keller Avenue about 7:35 p.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. All three occupants in the car were trapped after the crash, Hill said.

A 22-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the front seat, and a 4-year-old girl in the back seat, were taken to hospitals. The passenger had major injuries, but the child's injuries were minor, because she was strapped properly in a car seat, Hill said. Their names were not released.
