LODI -- The driver accused of causing a car crash in Northern California that killed five members of a family, including a pregnant woman, has been arrested.

Lodi police announced Friday that they had taken 28-year-old Ryan Christopher Morales into custody at a Sacramento-area hospital where he was being treated for injuries sustained in the Oct. 22 crash.

The Sacramento Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1fq2Dly ) that Morales will be booked into San Joaquin County Jail when his doctors clear him for incarceration.

Morales was arrested on suspicion of six counts of second-degree murder and six counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The crash, which involved six vehicles, killed Luis Miranda and his wife, Viviana Rodriguez, who was seven months pregnant, as well as three of their children. A fourth child survived the crash.
