The case of a Novato man who filed a personal injury lawsuit against Blue Man Group has been moved from Marin to San Francisco.

Stan Michelman claims he was hit by a flying blue ball during a Blue Man Group performance in San Francisco in 2011. The blue-painted troupe specializes in visual stunts and physical humor set to electronic music.

Michelman's lawyer filed the suit in Marin Superior Court, saying he suffered "shock and injury to his nervous system" and "great mental, physical, and nervous pain and suffering." He said the medical expenses exceeded $40,000.

The defendants are Blue Man Group and Shorenstein Hays Nederlander, owner of the Golden Gate Theatre. On Wednesday, Judge Roy Chernus granted a defense motion to change the case venue to San Francisco because the performance occurred there.

Michelman did not oppose the venue change.
