SANTA CLARA -- Tarell Brown did not sustain a season-ending rib injury when the 49ers cornerback had to leave Sunday's game and reportedly stayed overnight at a New Orleans hospital.

"He's good, walking around and getting better each day," coach Jim Harbaugh said Thursday. "It will take a little time."

Tramaine Brock is expected to start in Brown's place at right cornerback when the 49ers visit the Washington Redskins on Monday night. Brock moved there after Brown's second-quarter injury in Sunday's 23-20 loss at New Orleans.

Although NFL.com reported that Brown has "at least cracked ribs," Harbaugh said he wouldn't describe the injury as such, though he wouldn't describe it at all.

"He's got something he's working through," Harbaugh said in using his standard response for injuries.

Eric Wright likely will line up at left cornerback when starter Carlos Rogers moves into the slot on passing downs. The 49ers' fourth cornerback is rookie Darryl Morris, assuming Brown is sidelined.
