DOUGLAS COUNTY, NEV. -- An elderly Nevada man has been arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing his caregiver, a 51-year-old woman from Concord, authorities said.

Police say Melvin Norlund, 81, told investigators that he shot Catherine Costanza after an argument at a Gardnerville, Nev. home at 1:20 p.m. Thursday.

After the shooting, Norlund went to a neighbor's home and asked them to call 911 to report the shooting, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Costanza, who was Norlund's caregiver, died from the gunshot wound, police said.

Norlund was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of murder. He is being held without bail. The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
