OAKLAND -- A man shot to death Saturday morning not far from the Oakland Coliseum was identified by police Monday as Darnell Byrd Jr., 24.
Byrd was found just after 6 a.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of 78th Avenue suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Sgt. Sean Fleming said Byrd lived in another part of Oakland and police are trying to determine what he was doing in the neighborhood were he was shot. Police don't have a motive so far for the shooting and no arrests have been made.
