ANTIOCH -- An Antioch police officer was taken to a hospital Tuesday morning after a motorist ran a red light and collided with her vehicle, police said.

The officer, whose name was not released, was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, treated and released with minor injuries, police said.

The officer's car was hit about 11:45 a.m. while on routine patrol and making a left turn on a green light from northbound Somersville Road into the parking lot of the Somersville Towne Center, police said.

The 29-year-old Martinez resident refused medical treated and was cited at the scene and released, police said.
