An Oakland woman was arrested on allegations of pimping a teenage girl at a San Rafael hotel.
Sterlleeta Faye Herrin, 32, was also booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of pimping and child endangerment. She remained in custody Monday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The arrest occurred Friday night while sheriff's investigators and San Rafael police were conducting a prostitution investigation on Lincoln Avenue. While citing two suspected prostitutes at the Villa Inn, they noticed a woman, a girl and a man leaving one of the hotel rooms, said sheriff's Lt. Jamie Scardina.
Investigators stopped them for questioning and determined that Herrin had booked the room as a place for the girl to meet customers for sex. Herrin admitted to taking money for the 17-year-old girl's sexual acts, Scardina said.
Herrin was arrested and the girl, a Richmond resident, was released to a parent. She is not related to Herrin.
The alleged sex client was released pending further investigation.
The other prostitution suspects who were cited were at the hotel independently of Herrin and the girl. They were identified as Brianca Nicole Jeane Zeno, 18, of Pittsburg and Lillian Mae Deeds, 21, of San Pablo.
A woman who answered the phone at the Villa Inn on Monday afternoon said the owner was unavailable for comment.
