SAN JOSE -- More than 5,000 residents were without power in the Rose Garden neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, and PG&E officials said they estimated the lights would go back on around 6 p.m.

The cause of the outage -- which began around 2:50 p.m. -- was under investigation Tuesday evening, according to PG&E spokeswoman Katie Allen.

At its peak, it affected 5,176 residents, Allen said.
