ANTIOCH -- A 29-year-old man who police say was shot during what was likely a botched drug deal over the weekend in a shopping complex parking lot was expected to live.

Officers were called at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday to 412 E. 18th St. for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, Sgt. Mike Hulsey said.

When police arrived they said they found the victim -- an Antioch resident -- near Romi's Liquor & Food and suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Officers did not say where the man was shot and a description of his attacker was not given.

The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a non-life threatening injury, Hulsey said.

Police say they believe that the shooting was related to a drug transaction gone bad.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at (925) 778-2441.
