The Bay Area's record streak of 11 straight Spare the Air alerts is coming to an end Thursday, when good air quality is expected throughout the region.

Wood fires will be permitted again on Thursday following the 11 days the Bay Area Air Quality Management District banned fires during a prolonged spell of stagnant, unhealthy air.

The Bay Area's previous record for consecutive alerts was four days.
