FREMONT -- Police are searching for five men wanted in connection to an armed home-invasion robbery in which suspects ransacked a house as a woman hid in an upstairs bedroom.

It was about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday when the 27-year-old victim heard a loud noise at the front door of her home on the 35000 block of Armour Way in the Northgate neighborhood, said police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

The woman, who lives in the home with her husband, realized someone was trying to break in, so she ran upstairs, locked herself in an upstairs bedroom and then called a family member who notified police.

Meanwhile, police said, four black men -- one who wore a scarf over his face -- forced their way into the home by kicking down the front door.

The men started ransacking the home, and at one point kicked in the door of the bedroom where the woman hid, Bosques said. That's when three of the men -- one who held a gun and another who held a knife -- entered the room and demanded items from the woman including jewelry.

The woman tried to take off her necklace, but was frightened and shaking so the men ripped it from her neck, police said. She was not seriously injured.

The men made off with other jewelry and electronics including cameras and tablets.

An estimated monetary amount for the stolen items was not known.

Both suspects were black males, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with medium builds. Both were wearing gray hooded sweatshirts and dark colored pants.

The third suspect was described as a black man, 6 feet tall with a medium build who wore a light-colored hoodie and light-colored pants. The fourth suspect was a black man, 6-foot-1, wearing a thin black jacket and a light gray beanie.

A description of a fifth suspect who waited outside in a getaway vehicle was not available. Police said the vehicle was caught on video surveillance and is a mid 2000 Infiniti FX 35 either silver or gray in color.

Police said they are also reviewing other video surveillance from the area that caught the suspects fleeing the scene.
