SAN FRANCISCO -- Candlestick Park will host its final scheduled 49ers game Monday night, when the Atlanta Falcons visit the Bay-side stadium that first opened in 1960 as the Giants' baseball diamond.

The 49ers technically could still host a playoff game there next month, by virtue of overtaking the Seattle Seahawks for the NFC West title and a top-two seed or by advancing in an unprecedented No. 5-vs.-No. 6 conference-finals matchup.

Victories certainly aren't guaranteed upon a stadium departure. Here is how other NFL teams fared upon recent stadium finales:

-- Giants Stadium (East Rutherford, N.J.), 2009: Jets win 37-0 over Bengals (Jan. 3, 2010); Giants lose 41-9 to Carolina Panthers (Dec. 27, 2009)

-- Texas Stadium (Dallas), 2008: Cowboys lose 33-24 to Baltimore Ravens

-- RCA Dome (Indianapolis), 2007: Colts lose 28-24 to Chargers in playoffs (also lost regular-season home finale, 16-10 to Titans)

-- Sun Devil Stadium (Tempe, Ariz.), 2005: Cardinals win 27-21 over Eagles

-- Veterans Stadium (Philadelphia), 2002: Eagles lose 27-10 to Tampa Bay Buccaneers in NFC Championship game (Jan. 19, 2003) (Phillies played 2003 season there)

-- Foxboro Stadium, 2001: Patriots win 16-13 over Raiders in divisional playoffs ("Tuck Rule" game)

-- Pontiac Silverdome (Pontiac, Mich.), 2001: Lions win 15-10 over Cowboys (Jan. 6, 2002)
