ANTIOCH -- Police are investigating what led to the shooting of a man and a woman following a bizarre string of events on Saturday night.
Officers responded about 8:30 p.m. to a home on the 3700 block of Clayburn Road after receiving reports of shots being fired, Sgt. Mike Hulsey said.
When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old Antioch woman shot twice in the upper body, but police said her injuries were not life-threatening. A second person -- a 29-year-old Antioch man -- was also shot but fled the scene, police said.
The man later appeared at a local hospital to be treated for a non life-threatening gunshot wound, Hulsey said.
According to police, the house where the shooting occurred had been the target of a break-in last week. Witnesses told officials that an unknown number of people knocked on the front door of the house and were let inside before shots rang out.
Police said it was unclear why anyone was let inside the house, or what led to the shooting.
No arrests have been made as of Sunday.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 925-778-2441.
