SAN FRANCISCO -- A man was critically injured when he was shot in the head while sitting in a car in San Francisco's Hunters Point neighborhood on Saturday evening, police said today.

The shooting was reported at 7:29 p.m. Saturday near Evans Avenue and Middle Point Road.

The 19-year-old victim was in the vehicle with his friend when someone shot him twice in the back of the head and once in the hand, according to police.

He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for the injuries, which are considered life-threatening, police said.

No suspect information was immediately available this morning.
