OAKLAND -- A suspected shooter was hospitalized after a high-speed car chase through Oakland on Saturday night, police officials said.
An Alameda County Sheriff's deputy reported seeing the driver of car fire a gun near Seminary Drive and Foothill Boulevard about 11:20 p.m., said sheriff's spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson.
Although no one was injured in the shooting, the driver took off at a high speed and was chased by police a few blocks, until he struck several parked cars and crashed near MacArthur Boulevard and 62nd Avenue, Nelson said.
The suspect, who was not identified by police, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Highland Hospital.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, Nelson said.
