SAN JOSE -- Police on Saturday were investigating the fatal stabbing of a man --the city's second homicide of the year.

At about 1:40 a.m, someone called 911 to report that a person was lying on the sidewalk in the 400 block of Willow Glen Way. Officers responded and found the man, who was suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at 1:47 a.m.

As of late Saturday, no arrests had been made in the case. And police did not release the man's name, age or city of residence pending notification of his family.

San Jose's first killing of the year occurred on Jan. 2, when Juan Rios Sanchez, whom authorities described as a transient living in San Jose, was discovered in front of a home at South 33rd and East San Antonio streets. He had been shot in the stomach and died at the scene.

Police said no suspects or motives have been identified in the shooting.

Anyone with information about either killing can contact the San Jose Police Department's homicide unit at 408-277-5283 or leave a tip with Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at 408-947-7867, or with svcrimestoppers.org.
