August should be a very good month for the Dave Matthews Band's many Bay Area fans.

That's because the chart-topping, multiplatinum rock band is set to perform a three-night stand, Aug. 22-24, at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley.

Tickets are $75 and go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Feb. 7 through www.ticketmaster.com. The online presale starts at 10 a.m. Feb. 6 (password is Virginia).

The 8,500-capacity Greek ranks as a comparatively intimate venue for Dave Matthews and crew. The last time the band was in the Bay Area, back in September, it performed at the 22,000-capacity Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View.

These shows are being billed as evenings with the Dave Matthews Band. The group usually tours with an opening act, but this time around it will go it alone and perform two sets per night.
