OAKLAND -- A 53-year-old San Jose man was charged Wednesday with two counts of felony hit and run in connection with a collision on Highway 84 that injured two drivers earlier this month, authorities said.

Police arrested Bert Rosenthal at his home Wednesday and he was later charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's office, police said. He is being held on $100,000 bail at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

Shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 6, police said Rosenthal was driving on Vallecitos Road (State Route 84) just north of the main entrance of Ruby Hill gated community when his Toyota Tacoma pickup collided with a black Honda Civic, causing the driver to lose control and slide sideways into oncoming traffic.

A Jeep traveling southbound on nearby Isabel Avenue then struck the passenger side of the Honda causing serious injuries to both drivers, police said.

The driver of the pickup did not stop. Police later located Rosenthal's vehicle, which had damage consistent with the collision.
