The man's name and age were not released pending notification of his family, said fire department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in the one-story home in the 36500 block of Darvon Street about 9:40 p.m. and found significant smoke throughout the home, according to Knowles.
Crews had the fire out in about 10 minutes. The man, the only resident of the home, was taken to a hospital, where he later died, Knowles said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Knowles said it was apparently accidental and started in the kitchen. A damage estimate to the home was not immediately available.
