SAN LEANDRO -- Rolls of paper, each weighing thousands of pounds, caught fire at a paper company's warehouse late Friday afternoon, but no one was injured.
Alameda County fire crews responded to a Georgia-Pacific Corporation corrugated packaging facility at 2823 Alvarado Street in San Leandro, shortly before 6 p.m., said fire department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles.
When firefighters arrived, smoke could be seen coming from a warehouse, and employees at the company had evacuated the building.
Crews quickly extinguished rolls of paper, each weighing 5,200 pounds, and Georgia-Pacific told firefighters they would be reviewing security footage to try and determine what started the small blaze, Knowles said.
