"American Masters: Salinger" (9 p.m., PBS): This special recalls the life of J.D. Salinger, the enigmatic author who stepped away from the spotlight following the success of "The Catcher in the Rye." This version of Shane Salerno's film contains 15 minutes of material not seen in theaters.
