REDWOOD CITY -- A bicyclist was rushed to Stanford Hospital with major head trauma on Sunday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Redwood City, according to the California Highway Patrol.

As of Monday morning the CHP had not provided any updated information on the condition of the bicyclist. The identity, gender and age of the bicyclist have not been released by the CHP.

The incident happened at 8:14 p.m. on El Camino Real just north of Fifth Avenue. The bicyclist may have ridden off the sidewalk directly in front of the Honda, based on preliminary information. The bicyclist was immediately transported to Stanford Hospital for major head trauma. The driver of the Honda was not injured.

This collision is under investigation. It does not appear that alcohol or drugs were involved in this collision.
