SAN JOSE - A motorcyclist who died early Saturday after crashing his motorycle on San Jose's Almaden Expressway has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as 20-year-old Marcues Pena.

Pena, a Gilroy resident, had been riding his motorcycle south on Almaden Expressway and was trying to turn onto Redmond Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday when he struck a raised island, according to San Jose police.

Emergency responders initially thought Pena's injuries were not life-threatening, but he died at a hospital shortly after 7:30 a.m. that day, police said.
